Mariana Fernandez grew up in Long Beach, California, where her upbringing instilled a strong sense of community and justice. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of California, Los Angeles. Ms. Fernandez later earned her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, where she graduated in the top 20% of her class. While at Loyola, she served as a judicial extern at the California Court of Appeal, gaining valuable insight into the judicial process. Additionally, she participated in the school’s Immigration Law Clinic, providing critical legal assistance to underserved populations, and served as a research editor for Loyola’s International and Comparative Law Review.
